The Rev. Dr. John R. Van Eenwyk
Individuation and the Self
The Self, in its profound essence, is the guide within. Just as a river effortlessly flows toward the sea, the Self beckons us to embrace the natural course of our own becoming. In this plenary about the Self, van Eenwyk provides some clues how we can recognize the presence and role of the Self in our life.
We will also look into how the unconscious psyche influences us in ways that are consistent with what we were born to be and what we can do to honour that process. We will explore how we can engage in our own dynamic individuation process by tending to those opposites, symbols and symptoms directing and assisting us into becoming who we are supposed to be.
Dr. John R. Van Eenwyk received his PhD in religion and psychological studies from the University of Chicago. His teaching career began at Harvard University, where he was a Teaching Assistant in the Department of Social Relations. He has taught psychology at Northwestern University (Chicago) and at the C. G. Jung Institutes in Zurich, Chicago and the Pacific Northwest.
